Air curtains

Air curtains are most commonly used as a barrier in front of open doors, where they create a thick air wall. Most often you can meet them in supermarkets or department stores. They prevent the exchange of hot and cold air between indoors and outdoors and help reduce energy consumption for heating the interior.

It is therefore a device that separates two thermally different environments and prevents them from mixing. They are particularly suitable for shops, restaurants, production halls or simply for any door that is frequently opened.

The principle of air curtains:

The air curtain creates an invisible barrier of fast flowing air that separates and controls the different environments. The air curtain helps to keep conditioned air within the space, while unconditioned air remains outside behind the air curtain.
Ambient air is drawn through the front intake grille into the fan. From there, the air passes into the air chambers where it is compressed and expelled downwards through the discharge tube. Because this outflow is very strong, it creates an “air shield”, serving as a barrier to prevent conditioned air from escaping the building. At the same time, unwanted outside air can penetrate inside. All without the need for a main door or gate. However, the operation of the air curtain will be adversely affected if the so-called. the negative pressure in the building, i.e. the internal air draught caused by the air exchange system in the building.
